Your data and documents are kept secure and confidential throughout the whole process and will never be disclosed to third parties without your prior consent. You can be assured that your data will only be used in accordance with my privacy and confidentiality policy below. 

 

Upon request, encrypted translations in Pdf or Word format to secure their transfer will be provided to you.

 

We store your contents only locally on our own machines and external hard drives and not using third-party cloud storage solutions.

We may collect personal information about you when you contact us regarding our language-related services (through our website, by phone, by email, in person or on social media) to make an inquiry, place an order for our linguistic services or provide comments and feedback.

We collect, store and use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • issue quotes;
  • to inform you about changes related to our services, special offers, and promote our services;
  • to provide the language-related service(s) as requested by you;

  • to request a translation, revision or proofreading service from you;

Personal data collected may include your name, postal address, email address, phone number. Personal data may also include banking details, personal information on CVs or information on documents sent for the expressed purpose of translation, revising and/or proofreading. All data is processed on a password-protected computer that is not accessible by third parties.

For operational, administrative and accounting purposes, third parties such as banks, shipping services, website and email hosting services may have access to some of your personal data. Under these circumstances, those third parties - who are either compliant with the Canadian Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the European Union General Data Protection Regulation, or, in the case of American companies, are self-certified under the US Privacy Shield framework - must safeguard this information and must only use it for the purposes for which it was supplied, although we are not responsible for ensuring this.

 

Other than the above, we do not disclose your personal information unless disclosure is either required by law and/or necessary to investigate a suspected unlawful activity or any breach of any of the Website Terms.

 

Are your personal data and project contents highly protected?

 

We implement reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices and recommendations in order to highly protect your personal information and your project contents. Cybersecurity and protection of data are part of our professional practices and continuing professional development. For instance, we back up your project contents twice without using “the cloud”. Upon request, we store and send them to you in an encrypted form to secure their transfer.

 

However, by transmitting information through the Internet, you acknowledge that security of the information provided cannot be 100% guaranteed and that we are therefore not in a position to ensure or fully guarantee the security of the information you have provided to us.

 

How long will we keep your personal information for?

 

We will keep your personal data for 3 years, unless you ask me to delete it sooner. If you ask us to delete translations, revisions or transcriptions before the 3 year period has expired, please note that we cannot be held responsible for queries or claims relating to the content, as we have no way of verifying the accuracy of the original content.

 

What are your rights regarding your personal information?

 

You may contact us at any time to request a copy of your personal data. We will make every reasonable effort to ensure that the personal information collected and used is accurate. You have the right to ask us to review, correct or remove the information we hold. We will take action, within one month of receipt of the request. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner in Canada or in the country where you live.

 

Note about Cookies

 

Cookies are data sent by an Internet server to a browser, which is returned by the browser each time it subsequently accesses the same server. They are used to identify the user and track their access to the server. To ensure a higher protection of the data of our clients, only the cookies from the website hoster will be used. They are used to ensure a better functionality of the website. The website hoster certified its compliance with the Canadian and European Privacy Laws, and American Privacy Shield Framework.
